If you want to lean into zaps hard, what about a monthly contest as a suggestion? It’s fun and lighthearted. And it spreads the wealth.
On a day each month, Select 100 random Nostr users covering a variety of topics/interests who actively post authentic content on an almost daily basis. Wallets must be activated. Each user will receive a whale zap of 1million sats.
If not monthly, then run the contest daily at 3 users per day, which some might prefer. Same criteria as above. You can start today. Call it the “1 Million Sats a Day Giveaway” or “Who Wants to Be a Nostr Millionaire?” or something cooler. You can also create a different criteria if you’re not interested in the one above.
Cashu is great. I think there's a path through the Apple App Review Guidelines for Cashu in context of zaps on posts, albeit a very narrow and thorny one.
But why are a dozen seperate integrated wallets better than one wallet that connects to every app via NWC? The latter seems like a much better option from a management standpoint. I'd rather have one central wallet than a bunch of integrated wallets with individual balances I need to manage. Am I missing something?
Why do you care if people use custodial wallets for zaps? Also, most lightning wallets in use are custodial. There are some with integrated nodes (like Breez, Phoenix, Blixt, and Zeus) that are non-custodial, but most are custodial. I wouldn't hold a significant sum in a custodial wallet, but for zapping they're just fine.
Caveat— imho Nostr clients need to implement NWC as an option to give users wallet choice.
Wallet exclusivity is a centralised point of failure and can lead to mandatory doxxing/kyc, money services business complications, money travel rule and other regulatory issues that could expose users and destroy a NOSTR client. If the wallet itself needs to be subject to those considerations, fine, but give users a choice at the client level, or suffer the consequences.
If you know any *very* popular Nostr clients forcing users to use one wallet, (and I know we all do). Do not use this client until they put wallet connection freedom back in the hands of the user.
Disagree, sorry. #Cashu tracks you and wants many permissions you may not like. See analysis by #Exodus. I don't think Cashu is ideal, regarding your privacy. It ruins the substance of #Nostr
Cashu is a protocol. People can use any app/wallet they want. I don't know which specific wallet are you talking about? Just pick one that doesn't track you?
I use minibits. Does that count? Zaps have plummeted the last couple weeks, other folks confirming. For my case some say it might be because I use minibits. 🤷🏻♀️
Thank love. Yes, absolutely. The question is do they work consistently every single time? I've come across notes by the same user showing up consecutively on my timeline and successfully zapped a couple of notes but not the next (of the same user). So it raises questions.
You make laugh real big right now 😆 I do love the zaps and rather not miss on any giving and receiving. But I have to correct you. I am not complaining. I am assisting in quality control making sure all systems are good. Questioning is healthy for us all! 🫂😘
If government would not enforce KYC/AML exclusionary policies, then no custodial wallet would require KYC. KYC is just extra burden that no one wants to do, it's annoying, you have to integrate with someone providing it as a package, etc. I agree that this is circular - when you do custodial wallet, then government will kneel on you and then you have to do KYC.
Or make it one click to install Phoenix from the nostr app, update zaps to support bolt12, update Phoenix to support zaps (it already does bolt12 well) and nwc 😅
Still haven’t figured out zap 😅 I’m in NY and on iOS. So most lightning wallets aren’t compatible. Looks like only option is NWC wallet or Alby on Damus but haven’t figured out setup yet.
So I spent literally all day today fucking around w different nostr clients & trying to figure out how to use a single wallet on them without having to pay an arm and a leg as a monthly fee or running some server-like thing on my desktop.
Here's the best option I figured out so far: 1) Create a wallet on YakiHonne 2) Create another wallet on Primal and fill it by converting fiat on that same app 3) Transfer the sats from the Primal Wallet to the Yakihonne wallet
Also if you use Alby then I think you can connect it to Damus easily as we, but just looking at coinos it was hard to find intuitively way to connect it. You have to know what’s a nostr wallet connection is…. (NWC) …
I just wish the option to buy #zaps in @Primal would start working again. It stopped quite some time ago, and I've been left without an alternative to turn printed colored paper into #zaps.
If you live in a cold climate, consider getting an S9 to mine with @OCEAN and use it to heat a roomnostr: @BTCsessions has a good tutorial . Set up Bolt 12 payouts with @Coinos . It covers most of my zapping ⚡️ for the month.
I just tried @fountain_app for the first time on a desktop browser... i left confused. I logged via nostr... tried to zap, said i need to login via fountain... did that and then they wanted me to use their wallet? Got 404 when trying to view my profile... maybe i'm retarded 🤷♂️
While you guys are fixing wallets, can you also promote splittable zaps in all the clients. I should be able to have a profile for my organization , and one zap can go to multiple wallets.
