some apps take muting as a clue for hiding them for your followers, too. Robbing you of your option to ignore without censoring the experience of your followers.
Mute and block whoever you want. On an instance level I don't block anyone but you can go nuts. Seriously it's a new member thing. Once they know you're cool they go back to art posting and talking about cats
